‘E-Audio Books’ To Download From Your Library

Written by on June 15, 2011

From next week (Monday 20th June) you will be able to download e-audio books from your library: Customers will be able to search the library catalogue for e audio books. Alternatively they can use the digital books pages online and select the titles they want at www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/libraries/onlinelibrary – click on digital books. New titles will continue to be added to the collection throughout the year.

The service has a very straightforward process for download and will allow downloads to Amazon Kindle, and will also work with Apple iTunes software. It can work on all MP3 compatible devices, including phones. The service will be FREE! –  although this will be reviewed annually

Whether you are partially sighted, or just enjoy listening to rather than reading your books, the library will have 300 audio titles to download. E-audio titles on offer include fiction, biographies, books for children and teens and self-help books. Authors include Jodi Picoult, Joanne Harris, Kate Atkinson, Kate Morton and Stephanie Meyer.

This is the next step in Gloucestershire’s libraries offering more services online. Just last month the libraries launched Public Library Online, making books available to read on your laptop.

To celebrate the launch of the service and to find out from the experts how to use it, library users are invited to come along to the launch at Cheltenham Library on Monday (20th June) from 12.30pm to 2.30pm.
