Five shops close at Quays

De Keyser, Feraud, Jovani, Iceberg and Rock Couture shut their doors on Monday, just days after the shopping centre celebrated its first anniversary.

All the shops operated under the name of R & H De Keyser Limited, which has gone into administration.

Quays bosses said that they would try to find new jobs for all affected staff elsewhere on the site. The news is a major blow to the £400 million outlet, which is hoping to expand by creating 40 new shops within three years.

The shops were holding “closing down sales” on Monday and shut at the end of the day’s trading.

A spokeswoman for the Quays said she had “great regret” over the closures.

She said: “A total of 15 staff employed by De Keyser will be affected by the closures, and Gloucester Quays management is helping the staff to find new positions within other stores in the centre where possible.

“The owners of Gloucester Quays are committed to investing in new retailers and talks with interested parties are already taking place to replace those stores.”

The shopping centre opened to the public on May 21, 2009, and recently held a week-long celebration to commemorate its first year.
