Man charged following robbery in Barton Street, Gloucester

A man has been charged with robbery following an incident in Vauxhall Road, Gloucester.

The victim, a 23-year-old from the city, was assaulted on February 6 at 7.20pm after he left a bookmakers in Barton Street. As he walked to his car his attacker punched and forced him to the floor before making off with money from his pockets.

Police have now arrested a 19-year-old from Birmingham. He has been charged with robbery and remanded in custody.

Detective Sergeant Roger Austin, from the Gloucester Priority Policing Team, said: “Robbery is a very serious crime and will not be tolerated in Gloucestershire.

“The robbery team is fully committed to investigating such offences and this case emphasises that we’ll always make every effort to ensure that offenders are dealt with at the earliest opportunity.”
