Rhythm & Blues Show: Aretha Franklin

Another lady to celebrate in the final show in the month of March: Aretha Franklin celebrated her 70th birthday at the weekend and launched herself into yet another phase of her recording career!
Also known as “The Queen Of Soul” her career began in the late ’50 / early 60’s and we will be looking at some of her earlier work in the middle hour of the Rhythm & Blues Show on Tuesday. Why wait until a legend dies before we acknowledge them?
FUNK
We will also hear some more from Hank Ballard & then some of James Brown’s early work, which followed straight on from it. James Brown is often credited with the first funk track(s) and as we have the “Funky 5 + 1” playing out fundraising for GFM in April it seems appropriate to go back to the some of roots of funk! Tune in for all this & more between 12 & 3 Tuesday.
