Bin Fires In Gloucester – Police Appeal For Information
Written by Shaun Moore on April 22, 2010
Police in Gloucester are appealing for information following a spate of bin fires in the city over the last week.
The latest occurred yesterday, Wednesday, April 21, at a business address in Sabre Close, Quedgeley, when rubbish was set alight. The incident was later confirmed as arson.
There have been five other related incidents including two wheelie bin fires in Norbury Avenue in Matson discovered at around 3am on Sunday, April 18 and a grass fire reported in the early evening of the same day in Cole Avenue.
Inspector Pete Godwin of Gloucester Police said: “While these fires are most likely people playing pranks, the consequences in some cases could be severe if they were to spread. We would urge anyone with information to come forward and help put a stop to it.”
Anyone with any information should call 0845 090 1234, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident 504 of April 21 (for the Sabre Close fire), or incidents 71 and 80 of April 18 (for the Norbury Avenue fires).
