Police are appealing for witnesses after a young football player was in collision with a car following a match.
The 19-year-old, from Gloucester, was struck by a dark coloured saloon car just after 9.35pm on Tuesday, following the five-a-side game at Bentham Country Club.
A plastic bottle was being thrown around in the car park between two teams after the event at the Gloucester venue where several sides had been playing.
The teenager bent down to get it, and when he stood up, was in collision with the vehicle which performed a wheel-spin and drove off.
The young man was thrown over the bonnet and landed on the ground, suffering a possible fractured shoulder.
Officers are looking into whether the incident is linked to a disagreement during a match earlier in the evening.
PC Tracy Popplewell of Gloucestershire Police said: “The driver left the scene without checking the young man’s welfare and we are trying to find out if there was any intent behind this incident.
“During the match there appears to have been a verbal disagreement between two teams and we would like to know whether aggression on the football field has spilled over.
“We are asking the driver, any of their passengers, or anyone else with information to come forward.”
If you saw the incident please call police on 0845 090 1234 quoting incident number 460 of September 14.
