Roads being rescued next week

Gloucestershire County Council is carrying out resurfacing on roads across the county next week as part of Operation Road Rescue.

Highways teams have been out around the county repairing potholes, patching and resurfacing roads that were badly damaged during the freezing weather.

Starting next week (w/c 1 March), the following resurfacing and micro-resurfacing schemes are taking place.

Forest of Dean:

Major resurfacing with a road closure: A4151 Belle Vue Road (Littledean Hill Road to Woodside Street) Cinderford

Monday 1st March to Friday 5th March. Replacement of approximately 4,000m2 of severely weather damaged road between Abbots Road and Woodside Street. The road will be closed between 08.00 and 17.00 and opened up again each evening. Signed diversions in place.

Micro-surfacing: to prevent carriageways from deteriorating further after the severe winter weather,

Byfords etc Huntley.

Adams Way, Berry Hill

Albert/Springfield/Allaston, Lydney.

Stroud

Major resurfacing and road closure on A419 Cowcombe Hill, Chalford – starting on Monday 1st March for 2 weeks, this scheme involves the replacement of approximately 10,000m2 of severely weather damaged road between the railway bridge and the junction with Cirencester Road. The road will be closed between 07.00 and 19.00 and opened up again each evening.

Resurfacing:

The following roads will be closed on a rolling programme between the dates of 27th March 2010 and 1st April 2010. These roads will be closed one at a time.

1. Charlton Lane/Greenhills Road from the junction with Old Bath Road, to the junction Sandy Lane

2. Moorend Road from the junction with Sandy Lane to the junction with A435 Cirencester Road

3. Old Bath Road, from the junction with Charlton Lane to the junction with Charlton Park Drive

4. Charlton Lane from the junction with Leckhampton Road to the junction with Old Bath Road
