Officers from the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) apprehended 13 drivers in just 45 minutes during a mini operation in Quedgeley on Friday March 12.
The operation was conducted after local residents raised concerns about traffic offences with their council funded officer PC Fraser Mackie from the Gloucester South Safer Community Team.
Following the request from the community, PC Mackie took action.
The RPU stationed themselves at the junction of Bristol Road and Elmore Lane and after less than an hour they had issued six fixed penalty tickets to drivers who were using their mobile phones and seven fixed penalty tickets to drivers who were not wearing their seatbelts.
Those caught using their mobile phones were also issued with three penalty points on their driving licence.
PC Mackie said: “I find it astonishing that in just 45 minutes the RPU spotted 13 drivers committing offences.
“Using a mobile phone while driving and not wearing a seatbelt are both extremely dangerous to the driver and to other road users.
“I hope this acts as a warning to motorists that these offences will not go unpunished. We will be regularly repeating operations like this to ensure the message is being heard.”
