Tinchy Stryder fans to face knife arch check at GL1 concert

Written by on July 23, 2010

Music lovers attending pop star Tinchy Stryder’s concert tonight can look forward to a safe and drug-free experience thanks to a number of measures.

Security arches will be in place at Gloucester’s GL1 centre, to make sure only genuine fans of the British rapper are let inside.

The three arches will detect anyone foolish enough to bring a weapon to the event, with several officers also attending.

A passive drugs dog will be on had to sniff out illegal substances – if they are brought to the concert on tonight.

PC Matt Hammond explained that the measures were intended to reassure and protect the estimated 1,500 visitors.

PC Hammond said: “We are expecting a safe, drug-free event and we are going to make sure that happens. We want to ensure that concert goers can enjoy their night in safety and that there are no drugs inside.

Ken Meekings, Project Manager for Aspire Sports and Cultural Trust, who operate the centre said: “We are expecting a wide range of people to attend the event, including families with children. We are happy to be working closely with the police to ensure that a great evening can be had by all in a safe environment”.

Skepta, Mr Murdz, Shelina, Ultra, and Kevin Roy are supporting Tinchy, who has two number one singles and a hit album to his name.
