Written by on June 14, 2010

Police in Gloucester are appealing for information following a spate of vehicle fires in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Three fires were reported in the Norbury Avenue area of Matson between 4.20am and 6am on Sunday, June 13.

In the first incident, offenders are alleged to have pushed a Kawasaki motorbike from the communal car park in Norbury Avenue down the path to Juniper Avenue and set it alight, some time between 10pm on Saturday, June 12 and 4.30am on Sunday, June 13.

In the second incident, reported at 5am on Sunday, a Vauxhall Cavalier had been set alight and in the third incident, reported shortly after 6am, a Ford Transit van was on fire. In all three incidents, the Fire Service attended and extinguished the fires.

Police believe the incidents are probably connected to several vehicle fires in Churchdown that were reported between 3am and 4.20am on Sunday morning.

A motorbike in Grove Road, a Ford Maverick in Yew Tree Drive and another motorbike in Hawthorne Drive were the vehicles involved. Again, the Fire Service extinguished these fires.

Anyone with any information should call 0845 090 1234, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident 178 of June 13 (for the Matson fires) or incident 134 of June 13 (for the Churchdown fires).
